Saturday. I was down for an assisting shift at a fairly busy station due to the closure for engineering works of part of the Victoria line. Having not done a Saturday afternoon there before I'm not sure if it was busier than usual or not, but I was kept busy on the gateline for the whole length of my shift (breaks aside...) giving directions, dealing with tickets that wouldn't work, opening the luggage gate, keeping the service status board updated, pointing out to a group of three kids that free travel for under 11's only applies if you're travelling with a paying adult, trying to minimise the huge queue at the ticket office, and so on and so forth.

Sunday. Quieter station. So... boring...! It was really rather quiet, and between 4pm and 7pm there were three of us CSA's on, so there was hardly anything to do. We did a few verrrrry sllllooowww platform checks, and at one point two of us were dispatched down to the platforms to check for lost property on incoming trains since someone had managed to leave a bag on a train at King's Cross, although they didn't even know which carriage it was in. None of the potential trains had it in, however. There were reports of smashed bottles on the Eastbound platforms later in the evening and the only other work was helping people with the ticket machine after the ticket office closed, but hardly anyone needed it. I showed one woman how to buy a weekly travelcard on her Oyster and helped a family with singles to zone 1, and that was about it, I believe. Overall, rather a dull shift, not helped by the miserable weather outside. And inside, since the ceiling in the bridge over the platforms was leaking something rotten.

I was supposed to be back at Arnos today but I've been sent out on another assisting shift to a busier station instead, because there's an event at Alexandra Palace and they're expecting a lot of people to change to buses or walk from there... and because they *really* don't need me hanging around at Arnos on a bank holiday when they'll already have two CSA's there!
